MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Siegel High School announced today (Friday) that head boys basketball coach Matt Rigsby has resigned his position, effective immediately. The move brings an end to a five-season tenure that saw the Stars reach significant heights in the competitive Rutherford County basketball landscape.

Rigsby served as an assistant at Siegel for four years before taking over the top spot in June 2021. He also spent over a decade at Cannon County High School. During his time at the helm, Rigsby compiled a winning record and maintained Siegel's reputation as a perennial postseason threat.

Rigsby’s best season came during 2023-24, when he led the Stars to a dominant 23-4 record and a top-10 ranking in Tennessee’s Class 4A.  His final season in 2025-26 concluded with a 9-19 record following a 52-51 loss to Blackman in the region quarterfinals.

The search for a successor begins immediately.
