The man who allegedly robbed the Bank of America on East Main Street Thursday and then fled the scene in a minivan has been caught. 40-Year old James Bell was taken into custody Friday at the Journey Home in Murfreesboro. The Journey home is a non-profit facility on West Castle Street that serves meals to the homeless living in our community daily.

MPD Sgt. Kyle Evans told WGNS that Bell was arrested after his picture circulated in the media. The FBI is prosecuting the case with the assistance of the Murfreesboro Police Department. Authorities did not release the amount of money Bell fled the bank with or how much he had in his possession when caught. He is currently being bars at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Original Statement from Murfreesboro Police on the Day of the Robbery: 

The Bank of America located at 120 E. Main St. was robbed around 1:45 this afternoon.  A black male entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money.  The suspect did not display a weapon (although they should still be considered armed and dangerous).  After receiving the money the suspect left the bank and fled the area in a white minivan.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’3”, 220lbs, Black hat with writing on it, red polo style shirt with a white undershirt, jeans, low cut beard and glasses.
