MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Middle Tennessee Christian School is searching for a new leader for its championship volleyball program. Head coach Nicole Burks announced her resignation Monday after leading the Cougars for two seasons. Burks has been a staple of MTCS athletics for nine seasons, previously serving as the middle school head coach and a high school assistant.
Her two years as the high school head coach were historic. She finishes her tenure with a 66-8 record, a District Championship, and two Region Championships. Under her leadership, the Cougars reached the State Final Four in consecutive years and captured the school’s first-ever volleyball State Championship this past season.
Burks says she is stepping away to focus on her family. "As my daughter continues her collegiate volleyball career at MTSU and my son pursues his own athletic journeys, I'm looking forward to spending more time with my family in this next chapter," Burks stated. Athletic Director Jason Piercey thanked Burks for her investment, noting, "we appreciate the example she set for our young ladies both on and off the court".
