UPDATED: MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) alongside the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) have announced a joint reward of up to $10,000. This incentive seeks information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the individuals responsible for the weekend burglary of The Black Frog Arms. The federal firearms licensee is situated at 915 North Thompson Lane, positioned between Wilkinson Pike and Medical Center Parkway.
During the early hours of Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 3:40 a.m., several unidentified perpetrators clad in white attire breached the facility. The group gained entry by crashing a Kia Soul through the storefront. Murfreesboro Police Captain Jeff Keaton, of the Criminal Investigations Division, confirmed the case remains active while detailing the typical tactics utilized in these types of heists...
Surveillance images released by authorities depict the intruders wearing what appear to be Tyvek coveralls. This lightweight, synthetic material is engineered from high-density polyethylene fibers to be both durable and disposable. While typically utilized in industrial environments or by forensic teams to prevent cross-contamination, some law enforcement agents have noted a rise in criminals adopting the suits to minimize the transfer of hair, skin cells, or fibers that could be used for DNA profiling. The uniform appearance also serves to obscure physical identities on camera. Investigators suggest this strategy has gained popularity due to its frequent depiction in crime-focused media.
Amidst the sweep of the scene, officials discovered a rocket-propelled grenade, commonly referred to as an RPG. The item was found abandoned in the parking lot, prompting an immediate response from the Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Squad. Technicians were dispatched to verify the authenticity and stability of the device; however, after a thorough examination, the object was confirmed to be a non-functioning replica.
Following the initial breach, the culprits fled the area on foot before vanishing with an undisclosed quantity of weapons. The business, formerly known as On Target, reported that the thieves transitioned to a getaway vehicle described as a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Kia Optima.
“ATF is committed to working with our law enforcement partners to apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime before they can commit future offenses,” stated James VanVliet, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Nashville Field Division. Scroll down to read the statement released by Black Frog Arms & Range: As the lead federal agency regarding firearm regulation and violent crime, the ATF collaborates closely with industry members to prevent the illegal acquisition of weaponry.

Black Frog Arms & Range issued the following statement:
Early this morning, our facility was the target of a vehicle-borne burglary. The suspects exploited an access point via the handicap ramp to bypass exterior barriers and force entry into the building.
While the incident was aggressive in nature, our security measures significantly limited the outcome. The individuals were inside the store for approximately 50 seconds, and their ability to access inventory was quickly disrupted.
We want to thank the Murfreesboro Police Department for their rapid response and ongoing efforts. We are fully cooperating with investigators and supporting them in every way possible.
Out of an abundance of caution and to allow for repairs and internal review, Black Frog Arms & Range will be closed today (Saturday). We plan to reopen tomorrow during normal business hours.
We take security extremely seriously. Incidents like this are exactly why layered security exists; to slow, disrupt, and minimize damage, and that system worked as intended.
We appreciate the support from our community and will provide updates as appropriate.
