Shift Commander Daryl Alexander coordinated Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue units initially from Thompson Lane. Then assistance was requested and Memorial, headquarters and Jones Boulevard quickly answered.

Reliable sources indicate that the home-owner was out of the country and a family member was staying at the home. They were cooking in a fire pit that was on the patio and decided to go inside for a short time. Something happened during that brief period, and the fire in the pit ignited wood that spread to the roof.

One of the captains at the Thompson Lane fire hall told WGNS News that they believe that gas ignited and spread flames quickly to hard to get to parts of the structure.

During the peak of the blaze, one of the firefighters was overcome with heat and smoke, and was rushed to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue says that person is still in the hospital, and may be released Monday after additional tests are run.

The 4,355 square foot home that was constructed in 2007 is believed to be a total loss.

Firefighters were on-the-scene overnight in the event the structure reignited. after 10:00 o'clock. Investigators went to the Craythorne Drive home Sunday, and will continue their work on Monday. WGNS News will keep you informed.
