Linda White Kennedy Popplewell (84), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025 in Murfreesboro, TN. Linda was born and raised in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. The daughter of a farmer and an educator, and older sister to 4 brothers, she learned to hold her own at an early age.
Linda is survived by Kristina (daughter) and Donald Skor, Kathleen (daughter) and Todd Waldecker, Randall (son) and Cindy Kennedy, and her grandchildren, Seth Waldecker, Daniele Skor, Ben Waldecker, Anna Waldecker, Cole Kennedy, Will Kennedy, Kate Kennedy and Brooklyn Kennedy, as well as brothers Dennis, Bill, Duane and Jerry White and their families.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1267 N Rutherford Blvd in Murfreesboro, TN. A private burial will be held in Chickasha, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 30, followed by a time of remembrance and fellowship from 3:00 - 5:00 at the First Baptist Church in Chickasha, 324 West Colorado Avenue.
Jared Stephen Plummer, age 46, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away, Saturday August 2, 2025, at his home.
Jared was a graduate of Murray State University and had attended Experience Community Church in Murfreesboro. He had worked in computer technology field.
Jared is survived by his children, Addison Plummer Bryan and husband Alec, Brock Plummer, Ian Plummer, Sean Plummer; mother, Deborah Anne Plummer; brother, Derek William Plummer and wife Jennifer; niece, Aubrey, and nephew, Nick.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Dolores DeAnna Hancock-Sparks of Murfreesboro, TN passed away at the age of 65, on August 6th ,2025
Dolores was born in Norwalk, CT on November 21st, 1959. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She was a loving mother to four children. She retired from the State of Tennessee in 2013.
She is preceded in death by her parents Douglas I. Hancock and mother Wilma Scales, and her brother Douglas C. Hancock.
Dolores is survived by her daughter Natalie Hancock, sons Nathan Hancock, Dolorean and Darius Sparks. She is also survived by her sisters Wilhelmina Hancock, Ruby Boulden and her 9 grandchildren: Elliott Hancock-James, Zoe Hardman, Nathan Hancock Jr., Livvie Rose Sellars-Elliott, Emeri Sellars-Elliott, Averie Sellars-Elliott, Harmoni Sellars-Elliott, Leilani Sparks and Darius Sparks II.
James Labor “Jim” Vaughn, Jr., age 72, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Friday August 8, 2025. He was a native of Smyrna, TN and was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Bomar Vaughn; parents, James Labor Vaughn, Sr., and Carolyn Webster Vaughn.
He is survived by his children, Jackie Gibson, Amanda Carroll, Allen Vaughn and wife Melisa; Grandchildren; Joey Watts, Courtney Collins, Landon Rigsby and wife Jerrika, Matthew Rigsby, Dayle Faulkner, Stephanie Rigsby, Pilar McCutchan, Ryan Vaughn and fiancé Kasey Craighead, Alexander Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Brooklynne Collins, AJ Collins, Elizabeth Collins, Abbigail Collins, Chapel Rigsby; sister Renee Doom and husband Charles.

Kenneth E. Little, age 63 of Murfreesboro died Friday August 8, 2025. He was a native of Harlan KY and was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn Little, and Dixie Little; brothers, Bill Little, Glen Dean Little, and Robert Little.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Deborah Little; daughters, Leanne Van Epps and husband Shawn, Stephanie Hurt and husband Clint; grandchildren, Rylee Van Epps, Hunter Hurt, Kennedy Hurt; brothers, Ronnie Little and wife Jamie, Larry Little and wife Regina, and Tim Little and wife Mary.

Brenda Joyce Herrod Bucey, age 75 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025. A native of Rutherford County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Henry Jackson Herrod and Ruby Hillard Herrod. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen Lois Herrod and a brother, Robert Herrod.
Brenda is survived by her sons, Todd Bucey and his wife Kathleen of Murfreesboro, TN, Larry Bucey and his wife Susan of Readyville, TN, and Allen Bucey and his wife Angela of Beechgrove, TN; sisters, Martha Jones and her husband David of Murfreesboro, TN, Alice Qualls of Murfreesboro, TN, and Mary Durham of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, Jimmy Herrod and his wife Brenda of Murfreesboro, TN, and Andy Herrod of Rockvale, TN; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Valerie E. Mobley, age 64, of Murfreesboro passed away Wednesday August 6, 2025. She was a native of Fordsville, KY and was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Mobley; father, Earl Martin; mother, Willis Jane Jones, and a sister, Cathy Pearce.
She is survived by, Nick Mobley and wife Courtney, Justin Mobley, Amy Ragsdale and husband Jordan, Cole Wyatt and Rachel Yeatts; grandchildren, Samuel, Sophia, Asa Mobley, Emma Cole Ragsdale, Jayden DeBord and husband Tanner. Jerry Wayne Smotherman of Christiana, TN died on August 8, 2025. Jerry was born on December 11, 1938 in the Midland Community to Horace Palmer and Chester Mae (Helton) Smotherman. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, William “Smiley” Smotherman.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Angela and son-in-law, Ricky Wilkinson; brothers, Edward (Virginia) and Bobby Smotherman plus nephews Ricky and Brian Smotherman.
During his years, Jerry worked at the US Rubber Company in Shelbyville, the Rutherford County Creamery, and Forrest Sloan Cabinet Shop before retiring from Cummins Sign Company.
Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 2025 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Whitworth Cemetery located at 9387 Link Road in Christiana with Pastor Trey Gambill officiating. Pallbearers will be Ricky Smotherman, Brian Smotherman, Jim Thompson, Donnie Faulk, Buddy Gambill and Sammy Hughes.
