The senior tax freeze program is only for your primary residence in Rutherford County.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 65 or older on or before December 31, 2016
  • Income Limit for applicant, spouse and all others on deed is $41,500.00 for 2015

Required Documents

  • 2015 Federal Income Tax Return
  • W-2's and 1099's from all sources of income. The same forms used to prepare your tax return. Pensions, Retirement Income, Veterans Benefits, Dividends, etc.
  • 2015 Social Security Benefit Statement
  • Medicare Card or Drivers License
  • Voter registration card or current utility bill
  • Trust (if applicable)
  • Title or Bill of Sale for Mobile Home. Only applies if your primary residence is a mobile home.
  • Death Certificate for Deceased Spouse
  • Once you have these documents call and schedule an appointment.

When do I apply?

Application must be made before April 5th, 2017 to qualify for the 2016 property tax freeze. However, you are encouraged to apply early.
