Would you like to see how three women found new careers after retiring from full time jobs and rearing families? Visit the Arts Center of Cannon County NOW through April 14th to witness their leap into the world of making art: pastels, oils and acrylic have become their means of expression.

Virginia Clark, Kathee Claibourne, and Anne Carothers left the world of accounting, insurance, and retail to meet at The Attic School of Art. Kathee owned The Attic School of Art, Anne taught there, and Virginia was a student. Their mutual joy in painting led to friendships bound together with messy hands, paint, and Turpenoid fumes.

Each artist has a different point of view and stylistic preferences. Flowers from a grandmother's garden in Smithville, roadside Queen Anne's lace near Irving College, and a harvest of heirloom pumpkins in Rutherford County are all highlighted in this art show. A reverence for the natural beauty and a respect for local people and memories are unifying themes. If you would like to meet these three artists and see their work, please attend their reception from 6- 8p.m. on Saturday, March 25th. All of their art work is for sale. After refreshments you can catch the funny play "Southern Hospitality" the same evening at the Arts Center of Cannon County. Come and see "Local Looks".

The Arts Center is located on 1424 John Bragg Highway, just west of the town of Woodbury, approximately 20 minutes from Murfreesboro, Manchester, and McMinnville and one hour southeast of Nashville. Office hours are 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. For more information check our website at www.artscenterofcc.com or call 615-563-(ARTS) 2787.
