The Tennessee Association of Conservation District 2022 Poster Contest is open to entries now through October 14, 2022. The opportunity allows for students within our local schools to share their thoughts and ideas about soil, water and related natural resource issues.

The theme of this year's contest is focused on life and is entitled, "Healthy Soil, Healthy Life." The poster contest is held annually each fall during the months of September and October. The winners of the contest are chosen just in time to be a special guest at the annual Soil and Water Conservation District dinner, which is held in November.

The poster contest is open to all kindergarten through twelfth grade students. One poster from each county served throughout Tennessee may be entered in each of the following grade categories: K - 1st, 2nd - 3rd, 4th - 6th, 7th - 9th and 10th - 12th.

Stacy Fuller, Secretary of the Rutherford County Soil Conservation Board, stated, "Healthy soils are the foundation for all life on Earth. Soil is an important resource for everything from human health to agriculture to water filtration. The imperative benefit of healthy soil is food production. Healthy soils also give us clean air and water, plentiful crops and forests, diverse wildlife, and beautiful landscapes. It is important that each of us recognize where our food comes from and the farmers and ranchers who are dedicated to using responsible land management practices to ensure a sustainable food supply and healthy land and soil for future generations."

There will be several winners at the state level that include: First Place, receiving $50 and a complimentary ticket for the winner and 1-parent to attend the 2022 Tennessee Association of Conservation District Convention; Second Place, receiving $25 and a complimentary ticket for the winner and 1-parent to attend the 2022 Tennessee Association of Conservation District Convention. The National Association of Conservation District winner will receive a first-place prize of $200, while the second and third place winners will receive $150 and $100, respectively.
