(MURFREESBORO, TENN.) It’s an interesting time for bookstores across the nation, with smaller, locally owned bookstores becoming harder and harder to find. The subject of books was even highlighted late last month when a publishing merger was blocked by a federal judge. CBS News Correspondent Vicki Barker reported...

Meanwhile in communities like Rutherford County, residents have seen fewer and fewer locally owned bookstores. In fact, most of the brick-and-mortar stores across the nation that specialize in books come in the form of a big box retailer, which can sometimes prove to be disappointing to readers who are searching for that quaint comfortable feeling of a local bookstore.

In Murfreesboro, there is a new locally owned and operated bookstore called The Happy Book Stack… That was David Jacobs, owner and operator of the new bookstore on Mark Allen Lane behind the driver’s license testing center. Jacobs said he loves literature and can’t think of a more inviting place than a local bookstore…One interesting sidenote about a local bookstore that offers pre-owned books, among their vast selection of reads’ – you may find a hidden treasure. This may be hard to believe, but some books are worth as much as one-hundred-thousand dollars…
