Rutherford County, TN - Residents may learn about SWAT, investigations and K9s during the spring Sheriff’s Citizens Academy class sponsored by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. Reports indicate there is still room for more residents to register for the free class from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Tuesday beginning April 4 for 11 weeks at the Sheriff’s Office at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.

The classes include touring the Adult Detention Center, practicing “shoot or don’t shoot” scenarios and learning about patrol, criminal investigations and other divisions. It further provides an opportunity for citizens to learn first-hand about the operations of the Sheriff's Office through tours, lectures, field trips and simulated activities.
