This past Saturday (11/16/2013) Make-A-WishMiddle Tennessee partnered with Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department and Miracle of Kentucky & Tennessee and made a little boy’s wish come true. Makai’s wish will be granted at Kid’s Castle in Old Fort Park with a “Ten Spin” merry-go-round in Makai’s honor.

Makai is a three-year-old little boy from Murfreesboro with Dandy-Walker Syndrome who wished to give back to his Murfreesboro Community by adding a new piece of playground equipment to Old Fort Park. Makai’s wish granter, Merissa, expresses the significance of his wish and why Old Fort Park is special to his entire family:

Murfreesboro Park's Assistant Director Angela Jackson said, “Old Fort Park has been a place where Makai’s parents bring their children to play. Now Makai's new baby brother can grow up playing on this merry-go-round dedicated to his big brother, while creating new memories for their family to treasure. I hope it will bring Makai's family comfort to see so many smiling children enjoying this new equipment because of their son."

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, Make-A-Wish grants a wish every 38 minutes and has granted more than 220,000 wishes in the United States since inception.
