Bedford County Man Facing Multiple Charges that Include Rape of a Child and Aggravated Sexual Battery

A Bedford County resident remains in custody as the result of an ongoing investigation into child sex abuse allegations that were filed last month on June 7, 2022. Shortly after the investigation started, spearheaded by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Rustin Bowen was charged with the Rape of a Child, Incest, three counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, and one count of Sexual Battery. The alleged sexual abuse against the child dates back to January 1st of 2020.

Court records confirm the 37-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in a Bedford County Courtroom this Wednesday on July 20, 2022 at 9AM. Bowen remains behind bars, as of Monday, July 18, 2022. He is being held in the Bedford County Jail on a $250,000 bond. The hearing in the Bedford County General Sessions Court will be in the courtroom of Judge Charles Rich.

Prior to his arrest, Bowen was reportedly employed by the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Bowen was employed by the state since 2011 and was placed on administrative leave when he was arrested last month.
