Murfreesboro, TN - In a bold effort to educate and empower future generations, Murfreesboro Water Resources Department has unveiled its newly reimagined contest, Water Visionaries: Imagining A Day Without Water. The initiative invites high school students across Murfreesboro and Rutherford County to explore the consequences of water scarcity and propose innovative solutions.
Open to students in grades 9 through 12, the contest offers four creative entry paths: short film or video, visual art on canvas or poster, essay or short story, and community service project. Prize amounts range from $100 to $500, with standout entries receiving special honors.
Winners will be invited to Water Visionaries Day at the Tennessee State Capitol, where they'll hear environmental legislation firsthand and be recognized during an awardees' luncheon.
The contest aims to spark environmental stewardship and bring fresh ideas to the table about safeguarding one of Earth’s most essential resources. To get involved, visit Murfreesboro Water’s website, check the department’s Facebook page, or contact Sharon Seibert, Community Affairs Manager.
